Meet Eve Ruff

I am a coach, consultant, and mentor based in Seattle, working with families and women behavioral health professionals. My work grew out of my own recovery and two decades in the field.

From the research library to recovery work

Before this work, I was a biomedical research librarian. I served as an Associate at the National Library of Medicine at NIH and later directed library and internet services at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle. My job was to find the best evidence and put it in the hands of the people who needed it.

My own recovery from disordered eating and alcoholism changed the direction of my life. It led me into substance use disorder work, and for more than twenty years I have guided families and individuals through the maze of treatment and care as a counselor, case manager, and administrator.

The librarian never left. I still believe good decisions start with good information.

Why I chose to begin again

At a time when many of my friends are slowing down, I am starting something new. Eve Ruff Coaching + Consulting lets me do the work I care about most, directly and personally.

Families can focus on healing rather than managing one crisis after another. And the women coming up behind me in behavioral health can have a mentor who has walked the path ahead of them.

What I bring to the table

Lived experience

I know recovery from the inside. That shapes how I listen, how I show up, and how patient I am with the process.

A wide network

Twenty years of relationships across treatment programs, clinicians, and care teams means I know who to call and what to ask.

A researcher's eye

I read the evidence so you do not have to, and I help you weigh your options with clear, honest information.

Outside of work

I am a New Yorker by birth and at heart, and Seattle has been home for many years. My favorite hours go to family, especially my grandson, and to the friends who keep me laughing.

You will find me on the mountains and trails of the Pacific Northwest, with knitting in my bag, or following baseball. I cheer for the Mariners and the Mets, and I see no conflict there.

Let's talk about what's next

Whether you are concerned about someone you care about or are thinking about your own path as a behavioral health professional, I would be glad to hear from you.
